The AEP returns to Senegal for the third year in a row
The Portuguese Business Association (AEP) returned to Senegal with a group of Portuguese companies to take part in the SENCON fair (Salon International de la Construction, de la finition et de l’infrastructure), which was held in Dakar, between the 23rd and the 26th of April.
The Portuguese Pavilion at the event was coordinated by the AEP in partnership with the Portugal-Senegal and West Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Senegal Business Cluster Group. Participation in SENCON is seen as a gateway to emerging and developing markets in West Africa, giving access to over 100 million consumers.
The AEP first took part in this event in 2017, and since then Portuguese participation has increased every year, allowing for the development of trade contacts with this African region.
Several initiatives have been developed by the AEP in Senegal since 2014, including participation in fairs and trade missions, which have included dozens of Portuguese companies. Back in Portugal, the association has been hosting the Portugal-Senegal Business Forum/Reverse Buyers Mission since 2015, which is already in its 4th edition.
This year, companies which took part in the AEP delegation included Carfel (extraction industry and construction machinery), Belsolar (construction and solar energy equipment), Ilmar (machinery for the production of cement articles), Politejo (plastic profiles, tubes, sheets and plates) and Metalúrgica do Tâmega (extraction industry and construction machinery).
Senegal is part of the West African States Monetary and Economic Union and the Economic Community of West African States, which are gateways to a regional market of 250 million consumers, worth around 400 billion dollars.

AEP regressou ao Senegal pelo terceiro ano consecutivo
A AEP – Associação Empresarial de Portugal e um grupo de empresas portuguesas estiveram no Senegal para participar na feira SENCON (Salon International de la Construction, de la finition et de l`infrastructure), que se realizou entre os dias 23 e 26 de abril, em Dakar.
Para a AEP, que organizou pelo terceiro ano consecutivo o Pavilhão de Portugal, em parceria com a Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Portugal–Senegal e África Ocidental e o Grupo Senegal Business Cluster, a participação na SENCON representou uma porta de entrada nos mercados emergentes e em desenvolvimento da África Oeste, permitindo o acesso a mais de 100 milhões de consumidores.
A primeira participação da AEP no certame foi em 2017; desde então a presença de empresas portuguesas tem aumentado todos os anos, possibilitando o desenvolvimento de contactos comerciais com esta região de África.
No Senegal a AEP desenvolve, desde 2014, iniciativas diversas (participação em feiras e em missões empresariais) que já envolveram dezenas de empresas portuguesas. Em Portugal, desde 2015 que a AEP organiza o Fórum de Negócios Portugal-Senegal/Missão Inversa de Compradores, que vai já na 4ª edição.
As empresas que integraram a comitiva da AEP foram a Carfel (máquinas para a indústria extrativa e para a construção), Belsolar (equipamentos para a construção e energia solar), Ilmar (máquinas para a produção de artigos de cimento), Politejo (chapas, folhas, tubos e perfis de plástico) e a Metalúrgica do Tâmega (máquinas para as indústrias extractivas e para a construção).
O Senegal insere-se na União Económica e Monetária dos Estados do Oeste Africano e na Comunidade Económica dos Estados da África Ocidental, plataformas de entrada para um mercado regional que ronda os USD 400 mil milhões e 250 milhões de consumidores.
