The Portuguese Entrepreneurial Association (AEP), in partnership with CCIP – Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized, for the first time, from September 19 to 21, a Corporate Mission to Australia, which visited Sydney and Melbourne.
For three days, the six Portuguese companies, from various sectors, that participated in the mission, had business meetings, already scheduled with Australian companies and local buyers, and had the opportunity to understand the emerging needs and the potentialities that the market presents for the different sectors, through a meeting with AICEP and ALTIOS Australia.
During the trip, AEP also represented Portugal at the World Chambers Congress, which took place over the same period.
Despite being a country rich in natural resources, it is estimated that services had contributed for 68.7% of Australia’s GDP in 2015, representing the industry 27.8% and the primary sector 3.6%. The Australian economy, which has been continuous growing for 26 years, was the only OECD economy that did not enter recession during the financial crisis.
Australia has one of the highest growth rates in the developed world; it’s the 12th largest economy and one of the 25 most competitive markets in the world, with growing private consumption. Foreign trade accounted for 32.3% of GDP in 2016 and the negotiation of a Free Trade Agreement between Australia and the EU, scheduled for 2017, will contribute to the development of trade relations.

AEP organizou, pela primeira vez, uma missão à Austrália
A AEP – Associação Empresarial de Portugal, em parceria com a CCIP – Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Portuguesa, organizou, pela primeira vez, de 19 a 21 de setembro, uma Missão Empresarial à Austrália, que contou com uma paragem em Sydney e em Melbourne.
Durante três dias, as seis empresas portuguesas que integraram a missão, oriundas de diversos setores de atividade, tiveram reuniões de negócios, já agendadas com empresas australianas e compradores locais, e tiveram a oportunidade de compreender as necessidades emergentes e as potencialidades que o mercado apresenta para os diferentes setores, através de um encontro com a AICEP e a ALTIOS Austrália.
Durante a deslocação, a AEP ainda representou Portugal no Congresso Mundial das Câmaras de Comércio, que decorreu no mesmo período.
Apesar de ser um país rico em recursos naturais, estima-se que os serviços tenham contribuído para 68,7% do PIB australiano em 2015, representando a indústria 27,8% e o setor primário 3,6%. A economia australiana, em contínuo crescimento há 26 anos, foi a única economia da OCDE que não entrou em recessão durante a crise financeira.
A Austrália tem uma das maiores taxas de crescimento do mundo desenvolvido, é a 12ª maior economia mundial e um dos 25 mercados mais competitivos a nível mundial, com um consumo privado em crescimento. As trocas comerciais externas representaram 32,3% do PIB em 2016 e a negociação de um acordo de Livre Comércio entre a Austrália e a UE, previsto para 2017, virá contribuir para o desenvolvimento das relações comerciais.
