Caves Campelo is one of the oldest Vinho Verde producers in the region, Campelo was officially founded in 1951, but records date its activity back to 1923. Today Campelo is bigger and more varied, not only producing, but bottling and distributing wines and brandy from several regions, including, besides Vinhos Verdes, Douro, Dão and Port Wines.
The Campelo group is currently present in three sub-regions of the Wine Region, but its centre of operations is in the Cávado sub-region, in Barcelos. It also has wineries in Marco de Canaveses and Castelo de Paiva, in the Amarante and Paiva sub-regions and also relies on its distribution centre in Matosinhos. It is from here that its wines are sent all over the country, as well as to markets such as France, USA, Russia, China, Switzerland and Denmark.
With an enormous capacity for production and storage at its three wine making centres, Campelo sells around six million litres every year, with a high standard of quality and prestige. This is the result of a strong and constant investment in equipment and specialized labour, capable of bottling up to 10,000 bottles per hour and storing 8 million litres in stainless steel tanks.
